The Assembly Specialist is a hands-on position on the quick turn PCB assembly floor at Slingshot Assembly. The operational flow contains state-of-the-art surface mount and through-hole technologies. New technology in equipment, department layout, processes and employee development are what sets our company apart. The Assembly Specialist will be responsible for operating and enhancing this production environment with a focus on efficiency, productivity, quality, and on-time delivery. This person will live to make our customers successful. Critical to the specialist’s mind set is employee development via a team environment. She/he will be relied upon for her/his experience and knowledge in all assembly functions. Specific knowledge of IPC standards and a willingness to jump in are a must. The right individual has a thirst for knowledge that drives her/him to seek a deeper understanding and achievement of excellence. Everyone at Slingshot Assembly has to be energized by bringing positive change and personal growth. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assembly and testing of prototype and low volume production to exacting standards
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet schedules
  • Coordinates activities with Sales team to ensure 99% on-time delivery
  • Recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
  • Promotes and contributes to the positive morale at the company
  • Promotes a sense of urgency and teamwork
  • Ensures safety by maintaining the highest safety standards
  • Communicates status and expectations to principals and employees
  • Conducts preventative maintenance and repair of equipment
  • Inspects and measures products to verify conformance to specifications
  • Recommends and implements standards for test and assembly processes
  • Liaisons with Sales to identify and help solve technical issues
  • Participates in cross-training to eliminate single points of failure
  • Helps insure procedures and records are current and ready for any audits
  • In collaboration with principals, insure that regulatory guidelines are met
  • Meet regularly with principals to discuss short/long-term goals
  • Professionally represents the company to outside customers and businesses
  • Work extended hours based on company needs and be available for after hour emergency calls
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move items up to 35 pounds
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 - 7 years’ experience
  • Knowledge of electrical components and testing
  • Knowledge of IPC Assembly Standards (Class II and III)
  • 2 – 3 years’ experience soldering to IPC Standards (Class II and III)
  • Knowledge of Valor and DFA software a plus
  • Hands on experience in a lab, Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS), Contract Manufacturing (CM) or circuit board assembly is essential
  • Needs have knowledge of assembly software and equipment such as:
    • Paste Printers
    • Pick and Place Machines
    • Reflow Ovens
    • X-ray Equipment
    • Rework Stations
    • Chemical Board Washers
    • AOI Machines

  • Proven abilities to:
    • Be considered a technical guru in assembly
    • Comply with company’s internal safety policies as well as external regulatory agencies
    • Use tact and good judgment in contact with customers

The Solder Technician will be responsible hand placing parts post pick and place, final assembly post reflow, and after-wash components. This person will live to make our customers successful. Critical to the technician’s mind set is employee development via a team environment. As part of the team there will be countless opportunities to expand your expertise from soldering to just about all aspects of the production process and machines. She/he will be relied upon for her/his experience and knowledge of soldering. Specific knowledge of IPC standards and a willingness to jump in are a must.
